Teleprompter App Reviews

Cumbersome and Clumsy

Very disappointing. This appears to offer great features but it is awkard to use them. To control the scroll, you must constantly be pushing the command /plus the arrows. Yes, there is a slider icon but it doesnt work and there are directional arrow icons (that even light up) but dont work. If you go to full screen it is impossible to escape! When you try to shut the program down you must always FORCE QUIT. I took a chance purchasing this because many reviews were positive and debunked the negative. I wish I would have paid more attention to the negatives and not have wasted my money!

Fix It

Strange. To make a telepromter app where the pause button is a hassle. Just program it so the space bar will pause the motion. Also, my iPhone 5s doesn’t work as a remote as promised. I wrote an e-mail to Teleprompter 2 weeks ago asking for help yet, still no answer to date. Seems an easy fix, but that they don’t do it is, Strange.

It does what I needed it to do!

I wanted a teleprompter app I got it, tried it, does what I need it to do. I would wish for a lower price but thats just life.

Worked as promised

I read the reviews and then downloaded the software. It worked great! I needed to video tape a speech and it was simple to import the word document and then make the necessary timing edits for the speech. The software is very intuitive to use. Highly recommend the product.

Not Newbie friendly

I have to admit that I don’t work in an industry that requires me to use a teleprompter. Thought it would be a cool tool to help improve my presentation skills as I develop and practice presentations for work. As such, i’m used to apps that have “onine help” — a section that reviews the features and functionality. No such information associated with app. Most of it is intuitive but not all.

Support is Non-Existent

I’ve had some issues with the app. That’s to be expected unfortunately but what disappoints me is the total lack of support. I asked for help several times and got ZERO RESPONSE. Because of that I would not recommend this app.

So Far So Good

I have just started to use this app. to date I am pleased with it and hope that it will continue to serve my needs.

A lot of bang for the buck

The program does a lot more than I expected, if you want to spend a lot more money Im sure you can find teleprompters that will have more features. For the videographer or person that is just making videos for the web or other how-to videos this is A fantastic app for the money. I dont understand some of the negative reviews, Forget the ones that say that it does not have a pause button it does, its just that you have to click on the arrows in the upper left-hand corner forward or reverse ,The arrows actually work better because you can reverse the direction very easily. The only very slight negative that I would give it is that the help menu could be a little more user-friendly but I would even give that a four-star.

Helpful, for working solo, but iPhone App doesn

I have just starting using Teleprompter and have had some glitches. I had trouble with the speed button not working. For some reason the little OFF/ON button at the bottom right has a mind of its own. If your speed stops responding, Try clicking this button. I was really excited about the iPhone App. I am working in my home studio video-ing myself and this would have made my shots much easier. Oh, Well, everything looks great, I hit connect and the teeny tiniest connection source shows and looks like my computer, and it seems like it connected...Nuthin. Darn it. I actually chose this Teleprompter from many others because of this touted app. All in all, I paid $15. bucks and Im going to stick with it without the iphone app. And I have a 5s too, so it cant be an outdated IOS. I have only put Text in it so far.

Very good features - hope it works in the field

Ive had at least 4 different teleptompter programs and they ALL have issues that only seem to manifest on a shoot day. After testing this application out, it seems pretty no-nonsense and I really like the ability to edit text and scroll text all in the same screen instead of having to toggle back and forth between edit mode and scroll mode. One thing I really wish this had was the ability to pause and start the scroll with the space bar.

Almost works

Not able to support what I want to do. I want to show my text, scrolling with a total elapsed time of three minutes. I cant figure out how to make that happen, and i dont have more time to waste on it. There is an uncalibrated speed control that almost doeas what I want. It would be nice to be able to give a number to the speed so that I could make it scroll in three minutes. I tried adding timeline markers, but the feature did not work for me.

No flipped monitoring

Needs to work on dual monitors so you can flip the text for a telepromter and control it with regular text.

Rating

Absolutely worthless! You can’t transfer scripts into or out of the app onto an iPAD. Not worth the money. John

Excellent and Practical

This application is amazing and does precisely what it says it will do. I especially like the fact that it works with my MacBook Pro. The learning curve is less than 10 minutes. It is fully adjustable, and a great investment for someone wanting to communicate factually and with prompts. I just did a video presentation that I will make into a blog that will go out to all of my clients. It makes me look smart, and smart people win in the marketplace today. I have one rule for purchasing anything... If it helps to bring order and maximizes time all buy it. This application did both. - William Winship

Kind of useless for mirrors

This really isn’t a usefull teleprompter software. Purchased it to replace a pc prompter but having mirrors in front of our cameras has rendered it useless. The problem is the software is not capable of flipping the second video output separately. So you have to mirror your displays on the Mac then flip the text on the prompter. This is all good for the talent to read but the person in the control room has to be able to read backwards while scrolling!! The idea of being able to live text is great but this cant be done either unless I learn how to type and read backwards. I would like a refund. If not take the $15 and update this software so it can flip the displays the right way on external screens and leave the editing screen normal, it can be done.

The software for the Mac works great, but not the iPhone app!

As I have read from others, the availability of the iPhone app was the selling point. I found countless other programs that sounded good too, but that iPhone remote was what I needed. I saw the reviews, but, since I have an old iPhone 4 in a drawer, I thought what the heck? The app for the phone seems to connect, but nothing happens. The iPhone Remote app does not work at all on the iPhone 5 or 6 Plus. All that said, I love the main Teleprompter app for the Mac, it is fantastic. I have emailed support but a 2011 app is probably long forgotten. We’ll see, maybe they have an update to fix all of this? I hope so, it is a shame if they don’t. I looked for a teleprompter app that used a remote, I stopped hunting when I found one, this one. Since these issues, I looked again, still don’t find any others, However, I have one on my Ipad that uses bluetooth for a remote, I use a small keyboard with it. I wanted this because an iPhone is smaller than the keyboard and the MacBook Pro is bigger than the iPad. I should not have wasted my time. I still have to use the iPad.

easey to use

I’m moderately tech savvy and this was very intuitive to use—from the moment of download I was using the program and filming my message in about 30 minutes. I copied my speech text from a word document and pasted it right into the teleprompter program. There is a slide bar to quickly determine the cadence of the text scroll and the program pauses by a tap of the up or down scroll arrow keys. I think some Mac users are conditioned to tap the space bar for a pause so this took some gettting use to on my part—but yes, you can pause the scroll. I give it 5 stars for ease of use in helping me quickly accomplish my goal.

Good I like it.

I would love to have an actual pause button or the spacebar for pause. Easy to use, great tool. I will use it every time. Crashes in Yosemitie, freezes at times.

no good at all

installed and crashed within minutes. maybe it’s got to do with the new os not supporting it. either way - $15 down the drain!

Great App

This has always been a good app. Version 2 is even better, making this now a Great App. I give lots of public talks and presentations. I use this app in all phases from preparation and practice to delivery. I highly recommend.
