Teleprompter App Reviews

well thought out

tried a few; this one was clearly the good one.

not worth the money

I usually decline negative reviews but I really regret this purchase. it unfortunately has the feel of an student programmer pumping out something for an intermediate level class. I hate speak ill of others hard work, but buyer should beware that this was not exactly intuitive software. Im not a rocket scientist, but Im not exactly a computer-illiterate either. There is no way a prompter program needs to be this complicated to use. In this programs defense, I will say that perhaps my situation was a factor in my displeasure…Ill give it an extra star for that, I guess…Bottom line, I needed something in a pinch, easy to use…(In the past I had used the software for Ikans line of prompters) Anyway, this program was not it.

Not bad needs a pause feature!

Not bad I used this for a class presentation, but I really needed a pause button so I didnt have to reset all the time during practice and setup.

Decent promter software

It does pause! I am not sure why there are two reviews stating that it doesnt. It works like a toggle switch. To pause, simply press the direction button again. This is not unlike many other prompter software packages costing considerably more. Its a shame that a bad reviewers can effect a product. But when there are only a few reviews I can see where that could happen. I almost didnt buy this. But I decided to after reading the instructions. I am personally glad that I dont have to take my fingers off the scroll button controls to simply pause the motion. Its a lot easer to just press the up arrow again since my fingers are already in position. When your running a teleprompter, you need to be riding the controls, to adjust speed and pausing. The arrow keys works great. Up to move forward; up again to pause, down to reverse; down again to pause, left to slow, right to speed up. I like this software. Not great, but good, should cost $9.99 instead. The smoothness is good when running at a resolution less than 2560x1440 which is fine because you would normally output to a VGA device at a lower resolution. I would recommend this.

Fluid

Definitely worth getting if youre looking for an app to run a Teleprompter. Is much better than what we used 10 years ago. Goes fullscreen nice run to be 2nd screen or main on monitor. Also has flip text, reverse text, features if youre putting it in a mirror box behind the camera something more sophisticated than reading offscreen. Id like to see a jog wheel and I give it five stars.

The App is worthe the investment

Contrary to a previous review, the App does have a pause. You simply hit the same directional control you had priviously hit (either the Up or Down Arrow) and the scrolling stops. The programs easily imports from a variety of sources and is easy to edit from within the program itself. It does what is asked of it. What more can you ask for ??

Perfect to do what I want to do: webinars

I purchased even after reading a few of the negative reviews, but this is doing exactly what I wanted. I encountered a technical difficulty at first and that was mainly due to the fact that we dont have much documentation, but I sent an email and got a prompt reply that solved my problem. So now the software is working exactly like I want. Im very happy with my purchase.

PERFECT SOLUTION

First, know that Im a real-world working videographer. I was looking for a software-based teleprompter solution for field work and downloaded a very popular package to my MacBook Air. It didnt work. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. I looked for an alternative and found TELEPROMPTER. Moderately priced, and even though I read some negative reviews, it sounded like it was worth a try. If it worked, well worth the money; if not, well, Ive paid more for less education before. PERFECT SOLUTION. It works. Simple, elegant, easy to use and, despite the negative reviews from some, it does indeed have a pause function. Please dont let the negative reviews from those who failed to look at the command bar sway you from buying this software. GREAT PRICE. GREAT PRODUCT.

Useable.

Was looking for a quick and dirty prompter. The keyboard shortcuts are not as simple as Id like em to be. But they work. Would like to be able to editi them. Would like a mouse speed control too, but on a laptop with the trackpad, that doesnt help as much. Other than that, once I figured out what preset settings I liked, and what the keyboard shortcuts were, it was smooth use.

Excellent

With deregulation of oil and gas, making easy to understand videos is key to acquiring new customers and independent consultants. Great product.

OK for $10, but crashes on OSX 10.8

While not a full featured prompter, for $10 I thought Id give it a try. One of the most notable missing features is the ability to change read speeds on the fly. This would be very useful while holding my macbook underneath a DLSR - Id like to be able to control the speed using the arrow keys. The biggest problem however is that the program crashes or freezes when ever I try to change scripts. I have to go to the activity monitor, force quit, then re-open the program (save/close doesnt work) In short, for $10 you get what you pay for, we were able to use this app to record some talking head video, but it wasnt as easy as it should have been.

Simply works...

The application works great and is simple to use. Editing the script is easy and adjusting timing is easy. It is simple to pause durring the presentation with either the mouse or a key stroke.

This Teleprompter Software is Excellent and Works Very Well

I just purchased and downloaded this software quickly, and found it easy to learn, easy to run, and within 15 minutes had it working in our studio. We created four videos with it, and plan on many more. One of the other reviewers said it does not have a pause button. WRONG, it does pause and start up again by clicking the up or down key. Plus, if you are the on-screen talent, you can hold a wireless mouse, or use an Iphone app like Moble Mouse Pro to control it. I have used dozens of other teleprompters for over 30 years, and this one is the best yet! This app is worth far more than they are charging for it. I have already recommended it to two friends who work in production in New York and LA. They bought it and called me back and told me they love it too. Thank you to the developers, keep up the good work. Frank Candy

Got what I paid for...

The app does what it says it does. It isnt top of the line but it is useful. I dont know what those lower ranking reviews are about, but I dont have any issues with it.

Great but could use a few changes

SO far it works well is simple to use and has just what you needed without being something its not. One thing that would rock woudl be to swapp out the scroll speed bar for large up and down buttons as well as making all the control buttons larger in the frame. I use this from the ipad remoted into the mac. So having large control buttons woudl be good. The floating tool bar isnt as useful if you want to use this full screen so a dock-able set of larger buttons finger sized woudl be great.

Great Teleprompter for the money

This app is exactly what I was looking for. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a keyboard shortcut for pausing it, instead I have to click on the up or down key to pause it and while its inconvenient its still better than nothing. The spacebar would have been perfect. Maybe in one of their upgrades this simple addition could be implemented and that would make this one killer program.

Saved The Day!

I own a $2200 Prompter People, teleprompter setup, however when I got to the office last week to do a quick shoot that required prompter I realized my laptop that has the Prompter People software on it was at home. For some annoyingly strange reason Prompter People will only let you use their software on one computer. So I did a quick search of the App store and found this. After checking some of the reviews I bought it. I grabbed the bosses laptop and after about 10 minutes I had it installed and operatonal... It was great! With plenty of fuctionality to get my job done. At this price it is a bargain! I dont know what problems some of the more negative reviewers had but I found it just fine... It does pause, by the way... : )

Teleprompter

POS. Dont buy. Full screen arrow disappears when you go full screen. HELP says to get out of full screen youre supoposed to click full screen arrow. No can do when it disappears. Cant user the speed control slider bar. Greyed out. Command-arrow butons dont affect speed as described Worthless. I want my money back

Don

Our teleprompter died and we needed some software for our MacBook Air using a second monitor for the prompter. This is an unacceptably badly written app that should not be sold here. It has random keyboard support, terrible font support, only works on a single screen, no reverse on one and not on the other (so the prompter can read the script). Grotty UI and miserble help. Has features that dont matter, but cant do the basics. Its no worth $1.99 let alone $14. Embrassing.

Just what the doctor ordered!

Fullscreen in the app I just purchased has no diagonal arrow to command app back to desktop. If you look at the sample above it does not show a diagonal arrow in the menu bar. You will notice a horizontal and vertical arrow but no diagonal. The manual shows a diagonal arrow and instructs users to exist fullscreen even though its not there in the app. Thats fine though, the app does what it says. If you get stuck in full screen and quit the app, the grey apple screen might replace your desktop, but do not be concerned just hit command Q and the desktop will return. It takes a little getting used to apart from the missing arrow in the manual, but for the price this app will get you going:)
